The North Carolina Serials Conference (NCSC) is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience and ongoing community experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of anyone who participates in the conference or related events, social activities, or online spaces. Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, national origin, or economic status, as well as sexual or discriminatory images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks, unless it is specifically relevant to the research being presented. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Participants who violate these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference or other NCSC spaces, without a refund, at the discretion of the NCSC Planning Committee. Serious violations may result in the inability to attend future conferences or participate in related activities. Persons who have been expelled or denied access may appeal to the NCSC Planning Committee.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the NCSC Planning Committee immediately.  NCSC Planning Committee members can be identified by special ribbons on their conference badges.

If you feel that you are in immediate danger at any time during the North Carolina Serials Conference, contact law enforcement (by dialing 911) or front desk staff at The William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education without delay.  We expect participants to follow these rules at the conference venue, conference-related events or social activities, and online spaces. We value your participation in the NCSC community, and your efforts to keep the NCSC a safe and friendly space for all participants!
